YouTube is full of slop. It makes you want to click on it, but doesn't provide you much value. On the other hand, there are a few cases where a YouTube video I clicked on has taught me something genuinely useful. For example, I learned about [simulated annealing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulated_annealing) from YouTube and I went on to use it in my work. So it would be helpful to have a layer on top of YouTube to hide videos with high P(slop) so I can browse YouTube unmolested. Maybe this already exists. At the moment my policy has been to avoid YouTube and get useful information elsewhere, with occasional moments of weakness where chose to watch YouTube. At that point I try to only click on videos that seem to be useful or high signal, but I often find YouTube isn't showing me these videos.
